Sound familiar?
New shoes and gel insoles help with the floor. They don't help with socks that trap heat. Most compression socks are 70 to 90% nylon and spandex: they do the squeezing, but plastic fibres can't breathe, so by mid-afternoon your feet are hot and damp and your legs itch when they come off.
- Feet on fire by 3pmHot, sweaty feet with hours still to go.
- Itchy when they come offThat plasticky feel, and the scratching after.
- A wrestle to get onTugging tight nylon over your heel before work.
- That end-of-day smellShoes off at home, and you know.

How they work
Three things nylon can't do
Most of every pair is fine alpaca and merino, knitted with just enough stretch yarn to hold a graduated hug. That's the whole difference.
The hug
Firmest at the ankle, easing towards the knee
Graduated compression is snuggest at the ankle and relaxes as it climbs, so your legs feel a steady, even hug all day, without the vice-grip at the calf.
Dry and fresh
Sweat moves out, not in
Alpaca and merino draw moisture vapour off your skin and release it. Nylon can't absorb it, so it sits on your skin. Wool also naturally resists odour.
Comfort
Warm on a cold morning, comfortable in a hot kitchen
Alpaca fibres are partly hollow, so they insulate without bulk, and they breathe. No lanolin, so they're soft and far less itchy than ordinary wool.
What's actually in your socks
84% alpaca and merino. Just enough stretch to hug.
Every compression sock needs some stretch yarn. The difference is what makes up the rest, and what sits against your skin all day. Imported.
-
Baby alpaca 62%
Soft, warm, kind to skin. Exceptionally fine and naturally warm without the weight. It's lanolin-free, so it's gentler on skin that finds wool itchy.
-
Merino wool 22%
Breathes and stays fresh. Moves sweat away from your skin and naturally resists odour, so your feet stay fresher for longer.
-
Nylon 9%
Strength where socks wear through. Reinforces the heel and toe and helps every pair hold its shape.
-
Spandex (elastane) 7%
The stretch behind the compression. The stretch and recovery that create the graduated fit, and what keeps them up.

People on their feet ask us
Are they firm enough?
They give a firm, graduated hug: snuggest at the ankle and easing towards the knee. We don't quote an mmHg rating, because these are everyday comfort socks, not a medical device.
Won't wool be too hot in a hot kitchen?
Alpaca and merino breathe and wick sweat, so they stay comfortable when it's warm. It's synthetic socks that trap heat.
Will they show under my work clothes?
They come in black, grey and natural white. Black disappears under work trousers and with dark shoes.
Do they fit in my work shoes?
Yes. The cushioned sole is soft without being bulky, so they fit in sneakers, clogs and non-slip work shoes.
Can they go through the wash every day?
Yes. Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, and hang to dry. Skip the dryer and fabric softener.
What size are they?
One size, knitted with plenty of stretch to fit most adult feet and calves. If they don't fit, our 100-day guarantee has you covered.
Can anyone wear compression socks?
They're everyday comfort socks, not a medical device. If you're pregnant, have diabetes, neuropathy, a circulation condition or a history of blood clots, or are recovering from surgery, check with your doctor first. Take them off if you feel numbness or tingling.
